From Intern to CEO: Elliott Hill Takes the Helm at Nike After 36 Years, Aims to Boost Business and Revenue

Nike has announced that Elliott Hill will become its new President and CEO on October 14, 2024. Hill started his journey with Nike back in 1988 as an intern, after pushing for six months to get the role. Over 32 years, he worked his way up through various leadership positions before retiring in 2020.

Hill shared his excitement, saying, “Nike has always been a big part of my life, and I’m ready to help lead it into an even better future.” His rise from intern to CEO is a proud part of his career, which he shares on LinkedIn, where he recalls starting as an Apparel Sales Representative right after graduating from Ohio University.

To bring Hill back, Nike has offered him a compensation package worth $27 million, which includes $7 million in cash and equity, plus up to $20 million in potential bonuses and stock tied to performance. He will also receive a long-term equity incentive of $15.5 million.
